Abstract:
This study was conducted to investigate the situation of dealing with cyber bullying from different perspectives by considering personal characteristics. Therefore; the study was carried out in order to investigate the occurence of cyber bully/cyber victim situations on university students. Datas were collected in questionnaire form from 600 volunteer students who were recieving education in a foundation university. For the analysis of the data, Chi-square test was used besides descriptive statistics. It was determined that average age of the students was 21.55, 34,8% of the students were nursing students and 70,8% of them were women. When the situation of being cyber victim of participants was considered, it was seen that 51,7% of them had been exposed to “recieving annoying phone calls from private numbers”, it was also determined that 8,3% of them “had used password of other people without permission”. It was determined that the findings about being a cyber victim were significantly different statistically on Women and students who were recieving education in nursing department(p<0,05). Based on these results, it is thought that negative influence of cyber bullying could be prevented with “empathy education” program towards people behaving as cyber bullies and “assertiveness training” program towards cyber victims.
