Abstract:
Social networks have especially attracted the younger generation worldwide, particularly during the last decade. The rapid growths of new communication technologies, the instantaneous spread of these devices among younger users, expand and the impact of social media in our life directs the researchers in this field. Consequently, social sciences seek to understand the nature of 'Social Networks' and therefore researchers and academics conduct an investigation that aims to critically analyze social and psychological effects of social network. In this research, uses and gratifications approach is employed to analyze the usage of social media by the first year students of the Beykent University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations & Advertising, and New Media, as means of emotional satisfaction. In this research, a field study is conducted to determine the frequency of the usage of social media and the emotional satisfaction achieved through using social media channels.
