Abstract:
The aim of this research is to determine the ideas of Primary School parents about distance education practices applied in our country and to make suggestions that will increase the efficiency of distance education process. Participants of the study experienced the covid-19 pandemic process residing in Istanbul primary school 4. It consists of parents of 19 students studying in the classroom. Qualitative research model and phenomenon pattern were used in the research. Research data was collected through semi-structured interviews. The data was analyzed by descriptive analysis method. According to the research findings, there were systemic and technical problems and concentration problems in distance education. Distance education is unplanned and irregular and inadequate in practical courses. His education, painting, music, etc. were limited. The assessment is unfair. The concept of time has disappeared and children have moved away from their social environment. They're addicted to the screen. Sitting in front of the screen for a long time has impaired eye health. In the process, parents have approached their children as friends to reduce their longing for school. All responsibility fell to the parents, sometimes the parents felt inadequate. Due to the lack of communication, there was a decrease in learning, success and goals, and issues were not strengthened. At least children with distance education have not lagged behind in education. As the time and space problem disappeared, they were able to attend the courses they wanted, and they gained a different circle of friends. In this process, parents had the opportunity to take more care of their children and objectively see their children's shortcomings. Children have developed a sense of research and responsibility and have learned to use computers well. Their confidence has increased. Over time, both parents and children have trained themselves in technical and systemic problems. How difficult the teaching profession is is also better understood in this process. In order for this process to be carried out effectively, technical and systemic problems must be solved, measures must be taken to increase concentration. Parent control is extremely important in this process. In distance education, parents and children should be given psychological support. The special circumstances of specially gifted students should also be taken into account. It is recommended that teachers provide in-service training related to game-based distance learning applications.
