Abstract:
Social responsibility is defined as the fulfillment of the obligations of the companies to improve the social life through the determination, implementation, decision-making and activity of policies appropriate to their own purposes and to the social expectations. Social responsibility activities have transformed into planned and conscious strategic actions in terms of the social acceptance of the private sector and the free market, the creation of a positive perception in the society, and the direct contribution to corporate identity and image for companies. Maritime sector is a workspace as a closed-loop, being established limited relations with the public and society and social responsibility activities are carried out in a limited area. However, the maritime sector has a growing interest and support for companies against these activities. In the maritime sector which is considered strategic for Turkey, the interest and support of the companies towards these activities is increasing. This study first of all aims to explore the perception of social and institutional benefit about the understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility in Maritime Sector in Turkey. In addition, the social responsibility concept and the perspective of the sector to these activities will be explained and will be examined the campaign examples.
