AN INVESTIGATION ON THE NEW ARCHEOLOGICAL MONUMENTS OF THE GILANCHAY RIVER

Abstract:
Gilançay, which is 53 km long, takes its beginning from the Sakkarsu and Ayrichay rivers flowing through the Zangazur range. The 3 more rivers join this river until it enters the Aras river. Since the places around this rive is suitable for habitation the people have settled in that areas since the ancient times. For that reason there are lots of archaeological monuments in the Gilanchay valley. They consist of residences and necropolises. In the article a group of new archaeological monuments registered during investigations in the upper part of the Gilanchay valley. Archeological materials getting from them have been systematized. In the result of comparative investigation the type of the monuments has been defined. It was determined that new archeological monuments registered in the Gilanchay valley belong to the late Bronze age- early iron age (b.c II-I millenniums)
