Abstract:
Individuals definitely use social networks among applications on their smartphones, and almost every individual has an account in several social networks. In particular, university youth seem to use social networks with a communication format, information platform, all kinds of sharing (video, photo, place, etc.). This study was conducted to investigate the students' ability to use internet and social networks in Marmara University Vocational School of Technical Sciences in 2016. Demographic characteristics such as age, gender and educational status of participants, use of internet and social networks, and information were collected from students through questionnaire. Statistical analyzes of the obtained data were interpreted by R package program. According to the findings of the research, while male students spend more time than female students on the internet, the situation is the opposite in social networks. At the same time, it has been found that female students are more connected to the internet via smartphones, and social networks have been used for a longer time than male students.
